Series of Free Educational Seminars Provide Answers to Late-Life Changes

Dallas TX: The truth. It's what Dallas residence want concerning late-in-life changes like reverse mortgages, 55+ senior living options, selling a house in today's market, and preparing to "stay put" in your own home as you age in place.

These topics, along with others, will be presented in the upcoming Seasoned Conversation Truth Series as 60-90 minute monthly educational seminars beginning on January 13, 2022, 10:00 am, at the Network of Community Ministries, 1500 International Pkwy, Unit 300, Richardson, TX 75081. We invite adults 55+, caregivers, and their families to attend the free "Seasoned Conversations Truth Series" to learn about issues related to homeownership and post-retirement downsizing in the DFW area as they navigate change.

This series of candid conversations and expert panel discussions about the unique and often complex issues facing long-time homeowners is to be moderated by Angela McCants, considered the leading authority on issues related to downsizing, late-life relocation, and (55+) living solutions. As the founder of Dallas Supreme Relocations and Broker Associate with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate, Angela McCants and her business partner, Steven Oliphant, have made it their mission to educate and guide consumers and their families on best practices related to post-retirement living.

"Seniors and families realize that the market is good right now in Dallas, Richardson, Plano, and surrounding areas and are preparing to sell current homes and move into something more manageable," said McCants. "Many seniors have no idea what is available to them, how much it will cost or the process for making all the pieces fit together. We want to give them trustworthy information, introduce them to trusted local resources, and answer their questions. Seasoned Conversations, Truth Series, debuts with "The Truth About Touring Senior Communities" on January 13, followed by " The Truth About Trusts, Wills, and Guardianships" on February 10, "The Truth About Downsizing, Right-sizing, and Simplifying" on March 10, 2022. Seasoned Conversations will introduce more topics as the series gets underway.

"People don't want to be 'sold' something only to find out later that there were either strings attached or they didn't get all the facts. There are myths and rumors that date way back, and people deserve to know today's truth before they make a significant life-changing decision. They don't want a sales pitch. They want truthful information from people they can trust in order to consider their options. That's exactly what we're sharing in this series of educational expert seminars," McCants asserts.

Downtown Winnsboro prepares to blossom once again with the return of BLOOM, an immersive floral art experience that transforms spring into a vibrant celebration of creativity. Now in its fourth year, this colorful festival hosted by Winnsboro Center for the Arts (WCA) invites visitors to soak in the artistry, sounds and scents of the season from Saturday, April 11 through Saturday, April 25.

Set against the charming backdrop of The Bowery in Downtown Winnsboros thriving Cultural District, BLOOM transforms the town into a garden of artistic expression. Its the perfect place to plant yourself for a weekend and watch inspiration grow. And its only two hours from DFW!

A Garden of Experiences Awaits

Throughout April, BLOOM offers a bouquet of events designed to delight every sense:

The BLOOM Art Exhibition showcases an exquisite collection of floral and spring-themed works by approximately 30 regional artists. Visitors will discover lush still-life paintings, stunning photography, sculptural pieces and mixed media creations that capture spring in full flourish. The WCA gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday each week of the festival, and admission is FREE.
Art & Heritage Walks invite guests to stroll through Winnsboros storied past, tracing colorful tales from how the town earned its name to the surprising stops made here by Bonnie and Clyde. Guests will also learn about the citys longstanding support of local artists and public art. These FREE guided walks start in front of the Historical Museum and take place Saturday mornings April 11, 18 and 25, at 10 a.m.
The Art of Chris Browns Art Walk, on Friday, April 24, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., offers a FREE twilight tour through downtown with local artist/BLOOM creator Chris Brown. Guests start at Modern Country and meander through Chriss most inspirational local destinations while discovering favorite works and artists that make Winnsboro shine.
A live concert on The Bowery Stage features Grammy-nominated country singer-songwriter Lee Roy Parnell, whose blues-infused slide guitar promises to set the evening aglow on Friday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. Ticket info will be on the website soon.
BLOOMs interactive public sculpture, commissioned by WCA and created by Brown, stands as the festivals centerpiece: a larger-than-life floral statement that invites visitors to gather, connect and capture the perfect springtime selfie.
A weekly Farmers Market, held each Saturday morning in April, celebrates the seasons harvest with fresh produce, handmade crafts and fragrant bouquets of locally grown flowers.

Not Your Garden Variety Festival

BLOOM also offers unexpected delights beyond the arts:

The Winnsboro BLOOM Pickleball Tournament takes place April 1719, adding another opportunity to enjoy outdoor weather along with a dash of friendly competition.
Viva Las Vegas, the April 11 opening-night artist reception and spring fundraiser, invites guests to mingle with BLOOM artists and our best Elvis impersonator while enjoying cocktails and light bites in a lively, celebratory atmosphere. Ticket info will be on the website soon.

BLOOM Where You Are Planted

BLOOM was founded in 2022 by Winnsboro artist Chris Brown, an East Texas native recognized as Best Floral Designer by D Magazine in 2003. As owner of downtown Winnsboros Modern Country gallery and boutique, Brown envisioned BLOOM to unite art and nature in a shared seasonal celebration.

BLOOM is our annual reminder of how inspiring change can be, said Brown. It celebrates the beauty of the turning seasons and Winnsboros deep-rooted appreciation of nature and creative expression.

We are proud of our lively downtown and our reputation as a flourishing arts community, said Mary White, executive director of WCA. BLOOM brings all of us together to celebrate nature and artistry in ways that each of us can enjoy and appreciate.
